Bridgewater Tops Roanoke 69-54 in ODAC Women’s Basketball Semifinals

SALEM, VA – Bridgewater used a game-high 19 point effort from Marsha Kinder and forced 22 turnovers as the Eagles downed the Roanoke 69-54 to advance to the finals of the ODAC Women’s Basketball Tournament.

BC (22-5) will take on Randolph-Macon in the championship game at 2:00 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center . The two teams split in their two regular season games.

Down 23-14 with 6:25 left in the first-half, Roanoke went on a 15-0 run, taking a six point lead 29-23 on a three-pointer by Cindy McGraw and the Maroons went into the locker room with a 29-25 lead at the half.

Bridgewater opened the second-half with a 15-2 run, capped off by three-point bucket by Kinder with just under 16 minutes remaining in the game that made the score 40-31 in favor of the Eagles. BC stretched its lead to as many as 16 on a lay up by Katy Herr with 2:52 remaining in the game.

Jennifer Saunders joined Herr and Kinder in double figures for the Eagles. Rebecca Henderson led BC is rebounding with six.

McGraw finished with a team-high 16 points and nine rebounds for the Maroons and was joined in double figures by Erin Hanson who had 15 points.

Roanoke closes out its season with a 13-13 record.
