MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RUNNER OF THE WEEK
MICHAEL WELSH,
WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY
Welsh, a
junior from Tullahoma, Tennessee,
helped
lead the Washington and Lee men’s cross country team to a first-place
finish out of 13 teams at the W&L Invitational on Saturday morning.
Welsh was the individual champion, crossing the finish line in 28:39 and
finishing 39 seconds ahead of his nearest competition in the 124-person
race. Welsh earned All-ODAC and All-Region honors last season.

LIZ MUMAW, ROANOKE
COLLEGE
Mumaw, a
sophomore from Berryville, Va., finished second overall at the Generals
Cross Country Invitational at Washington & Lee, but earned first place
finish points. Mumaw finished in a time of 24:48.00, helping the
Maroons capture first place at the meet.

FIELD HOCKEY PLAYER OF
THE WEEK
ALLIE WEIR,
LYNCHBURG COLLEGE
Weir, a sophomore from
Richmond, Va., wins her second straight ODAC Player of the Week award.
Last season's top freshman, Weir
led the
Hornets to victories over Mary Washington and York (Pa.) and a near
upset of #8 Lebanon Valley. She had two goals, including the
game-winner, on Wednesday to give LC a 3-2 victory on the road at Mary
Washington. Over the weekend, she tallied three goals in a 6-4 loss
against Lebanon Valley – who had only allowed one goal all season prior
- and followed that up with three more goals and an assist on the road
at York. For the season, Weir has scored 13 goals to go with six
assists for 32 points.

MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JOE RIGERT,
GUILFORD COLLEGE
Rigert, a junior from Clayton, N.C.,
helped
the Quakers to a 2-1 week with a team-leading five goals and 11 points
in three matches. He set a Guilford record with nine points in the
Quakers’ 5-1 road win over NCAA Division II Chowan Sept. 5. Rigert
scored four times in the match, tying the school standard. He also
tallied Guilford’s first goal in the Quakers’ 2-1 win over Salisbury,
which was ranked 10th in the current NSCAA/adidas South
Region Poll.

5-0 trumping of Wesley. |

WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER
OF THE WEEK
NIKKI GRECO, EMORY
& HENRY COLLEGE
Greco, a freshman from Radford, Va., led the Wasps with seven
goals and three assists through a pair of victories for E&H. She
scored twice with three assists in a 13-1 win over Pikeville, and
followed that up with five goals in an 11-1 win over Averett. She
now has 11 goals and four assists on the season for the 4-0 Wasps.

VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF
THE WEEK
GRACE GERALDS,
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN COLLEGE
Geralds, a senior from Garden Ridge, Texas,
continued to quarterback the offense for VWC in the Gettysburg
Invitational, producing 87 assists, including 25 against host
Gettysburg. She hit .352 throughout VWC’s four matches, producing 35
kills and 81 total attacks. She also recorded 19 digs and had eight
aces and eight total blocks. Grace was named to the All-Tournament
team. She leads VWC with 218 assists and is hitting at a .277 clip
through 32 games and nine matches.
