St. Thomas Shuts Out Moravian, 5-0

 

St. Thomas' Janet Nagle pitched a complete-game three-hit shutout to propel the Tommies to a 5-0 win over Moravian College on Sunday night.  With the win, St. Thomas remains undefeated in the national tournament and advances to the championship game which will be played on Monday at 2:30pm.  Moravian falls to 39-5 on the season and will face the winner of the Muskingum/Salisbury game tomorrow at noon.

 

Tommie shortstop Michelle Wong finished the game 3-for-4 with a stolen base and run scored.  Centerfielder Kristi Huegel was 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and a run scored.  Catcher Nikki Conway hit her ninth homerun of the season as she finished 1-for-4 with six putouts.

 

The Greyhounds were held to just three singles by Janelle Brey, Laura Homa and Jessica Esposito.

 

Nagle (32-2) picked up the win, giving up three hits and striking out six.  Meagan Hennessy (21-3) took the loss, pitching a complete-game and giving up five runs on eight hits and striking out eight.
