W&L’s Nathaniel James Named ODAC Golfer-of-the-Year
James, a
native of
Beau Allen
of Washington and Lee and Ralston King of Randolph-Macon were tabbed as
Co-Rookies-of-the-Year. Allen took medallist honors at the ODAC
Championship after shooting a 74-74—148 to take the top spot. For the
season, Allen has a 76.7 stroke average in 15-rounds of play.
King carded
a 77.1 stroke average for the Yellow Jackets in 20-rounds this season.
King performed well at the league championships shooting a 77-76-153 to earn a
ninth-place finish.
Lee
Williams of
Anthony Zappin of Washington and Lee was honored by the ODAC Sports
Information Directors as the 2006 Golf Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year.
Zappin sports a 3.495 while majoring in computer
science and economics at W&L. For the season, Zappin
has a 78.3 stroke average in 15-rounds of play.
Blake Smith
of Randolph-Macon was honored with the ODAC Golf Sportsmanship Award. The
award, which is voted on by the league’s head coaches, recognizes the golfer in
the ODAC that best exemplifies the league’s definition of sportsmanship on and
off the golf course.
