SALEM, VARoanoke College goal keeper Matt Madalon has been selected as the 2005 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Lacrosse Player-of-the-Year in a vote taken by the league’s head coaches.

Madalon, a junior from Darien, CT, posted 206 saves through the team’s first 15 games of the season. He has posted a .648 save percentage and a 7.74 goals against average. Ten times this season Madalon has made 10 or more saves.  He also rates second on the team in groundballs with 71.  The Maroons advanced to the ODAC Championship game and are currently 13-2 on the season.

Rookie-of-the-Year was awarded to Lynchburg keeper Garrett Curran.  A native of Hull, MA, Curran started all 16 games, making 152 saves and posting an ODAC best 6.89 goals against average with a save percentage of .596.

Lynchburg field general Steve Koudelka and Roanoke’s Bill Pilat were honored by their peers as Co-Coaches-of-the-Year.

Koudelka led the third-seeded Hornets to their third ODAC Championship with an 11-10 win over top-seeded Roanoke, earning the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.  LC is currently 12-4 on the season.  This is the second ODAC Coach-of-the-Year honor for Koudelka.

Pilat directed the Maroons to a perfect 6-0 ODAC record and they are currently 13-2 overall.  RC set a school record for wins and reached a national ranking as high as number-three this season.  This is the sixth-time in his 17-years at RC that Pilat has been named coach-of-the-year.

LC midfielder A.J. Tinklepaugh was honored by the ODAC’s Sports Information Directors as the Men’s Lacrosse Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year.  Tinklepaugh, who hails from Annandale, VA, has a 3.81 GPA while majoring in biomedical science.  The junior scored 18 goals and dished out 11 assists for 29 points on the season.
