Hanky Hurls Hampden-Sydney Past Guilford 2-0

LYNCHBURG , VA – Hampden-Sydney’s Jayson Hanky hurled a complete-game shut out in leading the Tigers past Guilford 2-0 in an elimination game of the 2006 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Baseball Tournament.

Hanky scattered six his, stuck out five and walked four to improve his record to 3-4 on the season.

The Tigers (23-15) got on the board in the top-half of the seventh inning when Chris Padgett doubled with one out, moved to third on a ground out by Todd Harrell and scored on a two-out sing by John Apperson.

HSC padded their lead to 2-0 in visitor half of the ninth inning on a two-out double by Josh Michael to score Apperson.

Guilford (24-18) starter Mike Balash took the loss, going 6.2 innings, allowing one run on eight eights and striking out five. His record drops to 5-1 with the loss.
