Roanoke Earns Top Spot in ODAC Softball Preseason Poll

 

SALEM, VA – Defending Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) softball champion Roanoke College has been picked to repeat by the league’s head coaches in 2005.

 

The Maroons garnered five first-place votes and 68 points to edge Lynchburg for the top spot in the poll.  RC finished 34-12 overall, 13-3 in the league and won its fifth ODAC title last season.

 

The Hornets earned two first-place votes and 66 points to earn the second slot in the poll.  LC posted an ODAC best 14-2 record and was 31-11 overall.

 

The Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan received 51 points and one first-place vote to finish third.  VWC was 10-6 in the ODAC and 22-21 overall in 2004.

VWC was followed by Bridgewater (49-points), Emory and Henry (43 points), Guilford (28 points), Eastern Mennonite (25 points), Randolph-Macon (21 points) and Randolph-Macon Woman’s (8 points)
