Megan Silva Named VaSID College Division Women’s Player of the Year for Second
Consecutive Season

Silva, VaSID’s was one of the main cogs in Randolph-Macon’s road to the Division III Championship game. The Lady Yellow Jackets finished 30-2 on the year. Silva, the ODAC’s Player of the Year, averaged 19.5 points, shot 52% from the field from a guard position, was an 81% free throw shooter and finished the year with 176 assists and 115 steals.
LaHaye was named Old Dominion Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and led her team to the most wins in school history and the first ODAC women’s team to go 20-0 in the regular season, the first ODAC women’s team to advance to the Final Four, and a 23-game winning streak which was the longest in program history.
Two Eastern Mennonite players also earned First Team honors. Amanda Renalds averaged 14.8 points and 9 rebounds. She was a First Team All-ODAC choice, recorded 10 double-doubles and scored more than 20 points six different times. Joining her was teammate Stephanie Mathews. Mathews averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds. Also a First Team All-ODAC selection, had five double-doubles and scored more than 20 points three times.
Earning First Team honors along with Silver were Ferrum’s Tara Toland. She averaged 18.6 points per game, USA South’s Player of the Year and a First Team All-USA South selection, also a WBCA/Kodak Honorable Mention All-America, Second Team All-South region by D3hoops.com, and led the USA South and was ranked in the nation in assists per game.
Also earning First Team honors
was CNU’s Candace Bryant. Bryant, a Second Team All-USA South selection, named
Third Team All-South Region by D3hoops.com, was the team’s leading scorer and
rebounder, and finished with 17 double-doubles out of 26 games. She averaged 15
points and 11 rebounds on the year.
RMC's Salem Shaffer and Michelle Orton along with Hollins' Brandi Cochran
garnered second-team honors, while Bridgewater's
Katy Herr, Washington and Lee's Jessica Hunsinger, Randolph-Macon Woman's
Jennifer Prewitt and Lynchburg's Caroline Wesley were named to the honorable
mention team.
