W&L’s Christine Gladysz Named ODAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Year

SALEM, VA – For the second consecutive season, Washington and Lee setter Christine Gladysz has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Volleyball Player-of-the-Year as the league announced its all-conference teams on Friday.

Gladysz, a senior from Palm Harbor, Fla., finished the regular season as the ODAC assist leader with 1,207.  She also has 59 service aces and 297 digs on the season.  Earlier this year, Gladysz broke the ODAC record for assists in a career.  She currently has 5,077 helpers to her credit.   Gladysz is also a two-time American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American.

Rookie-of-the-Year Honors went to Gladysz’s teammate Laura Maurer.  The outside hitter from Sparta, N.J., has contributed immediately to the Generals, averaging an ODAC-best 4.27 kills-per-game.  A Second-Team All-ODAC selection, Maurer also has 114 digs and 29 blocks on the season.

W&L head coach Bryan Snyder was honored by his peers as the Coach-of-Year.  Snyder led the Generals to a perfect 10-0 ODAC record and they enter this weekend’s league tournament with an overall record of 29-4.  This is the fifth consecutive year Snyder has received this award.

Bridgewater’s Heather St. Clair was named the Volleyball Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year by the ODAC Sports Information Directors.  A First-Team All-ODAC selection on the court, St. Clair posts a 3.7 grade-point-average at BC while majoring in Biology/Pre-Med. She ranks in the ODAC top-five in hitting percentage (.386), kills-per-game (3.25) and blocks-per-game (1.25).
