Maroons Sit Atop 2007 Women’s Indoor Track Poll

Washington & Lee Seeded Second

SALEM, Va. --- Roanoke College was chosen unanimously as the top seed in the 2007 ODAC Women’s Indoor Track Coaches’ Poll.  They received all six of the coaches’ first place votes totaling for 36 overall points.  Washington & Lee University was a close second seed tallying 30 total points. 

 

The Maroons return this season wearing last season’s conference championship crown, having won by over 100 points.  They also return five individual champions including last years Athlete of the Meet and Rookie of the Year, Robin Yerkes, who placed first in the 200m dash and second in the 400m dash.  Other key returning champs from last season’s meet are Kate Mason (55m dash), Meredith Withers (55m hurdles), Mallory McClaine (5000m run) and Dominique McCoy (Long Jump). 

 

Washington & Lee finished second in last year’s championship meet.  The Generals return several individual champions from last season including Elizabeth Krausnick (800m dash), Becca Taylor (one-mile), Stacey Doornbos (triple jump) and Maggie Sutherland (High Jump).  Another returning runner to watch is Kat Telfeyan, who finished third in last year’s 5000m run.
