W&L’s Strickler and Hathorn Highlight ODAC Women’s Lax All-Conference Teams

 

SALEM, VA – Amanda Strickler of Washington and Lee has been named the 2006 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player-of-the-Year by the league’s head coaches.

 

Strickler, a native of Lexington, Va., leads her team in the scoring with 58 points on 23 goals and an ODAC best 35 assists this season.  She helped lead the Generals to the ODAC Championship, a 15-3 overall record and a perfect 8-0 mark in league play.

 

W&L head coach Jan Hathorn was tabbed as ODAC Coach-of-the-Year after leading her Generals to their fourth-consecutive ODAC crown.  This is the eighth-time in her 18-years at W&L that Hathorn has earned this honor and the fifth-time in six years.

 

Virginia Wesleyan goal keeper Ashley Sippel was named the league’s Rookie-of-the-Year.  A native of Leesburg, Va., Sippel posted a 134 saves between the pipes for the Marlins this season and VWC was 10-4 with her in net.

 

Kristen Jehl of Virginia Wesleyan was named the 2006 ODAC Women’s Lacrosse Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year by the league’s Sports Information Directors. A first-team selection at defense on the field, the Campton, N.H. native fashions a 3.93 gpa in the class room while majoring in criminal justice at VWC.
